Gareth Griffiths is an experienced editorial writer, creative copywriter (advertising) and professional photographer.
I'm available on commission to a wide range of enterprises. These include:
Whereas a number of freelancers are qualified or degreed journalists, I have an academic background is in the physical sciences (BSc, Chem, Phys, Applied Maths, Hons (Chem) - UCT) so this greatly helps my understanding of technological issues including photography. I have a wide corporate career path in marketing and communications from the oil industry. I managed one of the largest corporate identity change communication programmes ever conducted on the African continent - namely the Mobil - to Engen brand name change, after which I was appointed GM in Corporate Communications for the Engen Group.
"Placed together with 20 years spent in media, editorial writing and photography, this corporate experience uniquely enables him as a content provider, strategist and issues writer. For example, he offers a service in the writing of articles on green building and sustainability - for which he is eminently qualified." - corporate client.
My photos have appeared on various front covers such as Walls and Roofs, Specifier, SA Roofing, Architect and Builder, SA Builder, SA Affordable Housing, To Build, the Journal of Architecture SA, the SAMRO magazine and many others. Details of photographic services offered are available on the Professional Photoshoots website.
Proudly listed on the SA's Best Suppliers site: See http://www.bestsuppliers.co.za/photography-picture-worth-thousand-words
Writing and editing:
On the writing front, I've been a features writer for Leadership magazine and authored a regular consumer photographic column for People's Post, among others. I am currently the freelance editor of To Build magazine and contributing editor to the SA Building Review.
I've served a range of corporate clients - details of these campaigns are available on the Energy|MC website.
Other areas of interest:
I was intimately involved in the launch of Open Africa, an organisation aimed at creating awareness of the role of African travel and eco-tourism. Later, I served on the Cape Town 2004 Olympic Bid Committee under Raymond Ackerman. My role was as business manager for the IAAF World Cross Country which was held in Cape Town during 1996.
