Although Glatzer is an American writer, writing largely for the US market, this is an invaluable book for freelancers and a cut above most of the books out there. Glatzer not only covers matters like generating ideas, finding markets and pitching – she also explains how to ascertain which stories are in demand, how one can build up a relationship with an editor, how to market reprints and what to do if a publisher doesn't pay (and who can do without that advice?). She presents short assignments to make you think and practice your writing and people skills. And her advice on militant negotiating is priceless!
Beginners will find the book very useful but more seasoned freelancers will learn quite a bit, too. It's rare that a book on freelancing covers both 'markets', but this one does.
