This course has been designed for anyone who is either currently working in a media field or would like to break into freelance writing/editing either full time or to supplement their income.  It’s not enough just to be a good writer these days; you have to understand the ‘business’ of freelancing.

This practical course will give you the skills to become a full time freelancer.  By the end of the course you will come away with sellable work...

Workshop Facilitator

Award winning journalist and author Marion Scher has been one of South Africa's top freelance journalists for the last  22 years.  Until 2008 she was Head of Journalism Studies at Damelin, Bramley and is an editorial trainer for the Magazine Publishers Association.   She is also a judge of South Africa’s two most prestigious media awards, the PICA Awards and the Admag Awards.

She runs courses both in the media and public relations industry as well as in the corporate field, tailoring courses to meet the client's needs.  Her corporate clients include Unilever, MTN, Telkom, Multichoice, Munich Re, Anglo Gold Ashanti and DBSA.  Her new book ‘Surviving the SA Media (Knowledge Resources) has just been released and is available in most major bookshops.
